Game started out for me so different from all other Hidden Object Games that I decided to make the purchase and venture beyond demo. If you are a Hidden Object Lover, give this game a whirl for sure!! I really enjoyed this gaming adventure with all HOG's which connect to a narration that is read from a book. If you don't like to read, you can scan the pages, however, you'll miss the plot entirely. Challenging and truly enjoyable with time limits that allow you to click bonus items which add either to the hints--or add precious minutes to your time clock. You are stuck in a Hotel where people have gone missing and, with no one else around other than a cat that shows up now and again, you are in the Hotel Elevator which takes you to each floor. Rather than roaming all around the Hotel, the door opens and various rooms hold the Hidden Object Scenes to play through. Mini-games are challenging but not impossible and must be played to advance. For me, this game was like playing an interactive book and I immediately purchased all the Haunted Hotel sequels!! If you like something unique and, like me, are wearied with the blood and guts scenes that abound in other games, visit the Haunted Hotel. Enjoy! -Mama Mia-
This is a great game for those going from beginner to intermediate HO play. With beginning HOs being those without mini games and intermediate with mini games. The mini games in this are not difficult. The first in the Haunted Hotel series is the best in my opinion.
Enjoyed this game, not very difficult but it didn't need to be. The game would be more suited for the younger kids.
Now that i've spent a few months playing the big fish game catalogue, it seems right to review my experiences. This was the first game i bought from the big fish catalogue and i thorougly enjoyed it. I thought that the themes to the rooms were a nice touch and the mini-games were a change to the rest of the game format. However, being the first game i played, experience does play a part in my review. Firstly, having played around ten of the other, newer big fish games, this one does seem outdated, Not just in graphical quality but also in content. The mini-games, at first seeming a welcome change, are now perceived as repetitive and a move away from the action. The hidden objects also repeat themselves; something that i, having first played the game, thought was ok. But now i see this was not the case and the increased graphical quality and storylines of the newer big fish games makes haunted hotel only one for the beginners. However, if you are new to the big fish games, this title is excellent, as it floats you into the genre and prepares you for the newer, most structured games ahead. For this reason i cannot give any less than four stars, plus ia m still a little nostalgic ;)
could of been a bit longer but I don't like games that have a lot needless roaming around to get to a hidden object room. I like finding hidden objects and the games you have to play after you completed a floor.
The theme rooms were wonderful! The game was quite easy, the same objects kept appearing in the same rooms, but it was good fun for a beginner. I would also recommend the sequel to this game, Haunted Hotel:Believe the lies.
This game I first played about five years ago, and was one of my first HO games. The story line made little sense, but the minigames were worth it. There is no "skip" button on the games, but if you hit "close" your elevator still gets charged up. I like the Haunted Hotel series, especially the later ones.
I don't read the stories so I can't comment on that but the game is very interesting and the mini games are fantastic. The "music" is not annoying like on most games and all the secret items make it even more fun.
I liked the beginning...got lost...kept playing and started to enjoy it! The more I play the more I like of it....Hopefully I will get to the end and then can play again and really enjoy it since I will know more what I am doing! I am trying to get thru these walk around games and use my brain more! lol
This is pretty much a series of hidden object scenes with some interesting mini-games & puzzles: such as match three, untangle the rope, energy balls & capturing letters to spell a word - which occur at the end of each level or chapter . . . In between the levels are long, wordy - & very weird - chapters in a narrative describing the strange goings-on at the hotel . . . These narratives really don't have a strong link to the overall game play, though . . . The graphics are fair, at best - which make the hidden object scenes that much more of a challenge . . . The hidden object scenes are timed play only, but extra hints or time can be earned by finding bonus items . . . What with twenty minutes or more with added bonus minutes, the time allotted to finish each level is generous . . . A short game by normal standards, it grew on me . . .
