I recommend you to play the first game (The Clockwork Man) for a better understanding of the story. A good innovation for this hidden object: movables scenes which create a 3D effect. This increases the level of difficulty and allow to enrich the game. The story is well built and interesting. The central figure Miranda and his small robot are charming. The graphics are beautiful, the music well adapted and voices are great. The map is very useful (click and go). The movies are accessible in the menu (always useful!). The puzzles are a bit more difficult at the end of the game. Note : check the credits and you will see the production team ;-)
Really enjoyed the first one & there are vast improvements in this sequal! Hidden Object scenes aren't so difficult you tear your hair out & that's a major plus! This game is heavy on story & has a great theme/moral - but if you don't enjoy taking your time and really following your journal and all the diologues - this may not be your cup of tea. Stunning graphics and puzzles are unique and challenging. Great "cast of characters" and for me a perfect blend of story, Hidden Object scenes, tasks and puzzles. Both this and the prequel really stand out in their uniqueness in a "sea" of games! Enjoy!
i didn't really like this game that much. no skips. it had a good storyline, but it took forever to finish. others might that, i had to keep cheating to finish. it is about a woman that goes exploring and winds up finding people she didn't expect to find. if you are like me and want to be able to skip some games.....try the demo first to be sure you will be happy spending the money. the hint button and item locator are both slow charging. there is a diary and an interactive map but the map is so-so for helping.
Based on entire game. Several scenes (including HO scenes) were either zoomable or scrollable. No clicking penalty - yeah! HO scenes: nicely sized and not overly cluttered. Puzzles: very challenging. Map: allows you to jump to any scene on the map (it was in fact the only way to get to a new scene). Journal: needed because solutions to some puzzles are recorded here. Graphics: not spectacular, but they were clear. Sprocket was cute (reminded me R2D2). Story: When I reached the anticlimactic point, I wondered if I missed something during the play. I still had a squirrel in inventory. Storyline made sense for this type of game.
The story continues. Loved the game and got a kick out of the closing credits : )
I really liked the first Clockwork Man game. I like the little guy and he seemed an integral part of the game. In this one he was not much of a player. It seemed more that they used the name just so there would be familiarity and those who liked the first would be drawn to this one. There was no real reason it needed to be clockwork anything. The game could have stood on it's own. The play was good, the puzzles interesting and different from the typical HOG puzzle. One I found particularly challenging which produced a frustratingly fun time. Often the puzzles are repetitive and easy. These were unique and entertaining. As with most HOGs the ending was a let down. The finish doesn't involve any sort of challenge. There's a movie scene, then she puts her hand on a column which activates something that sucks the bad guy away. Then there's another movie which goes on for about 5 min, it seemed, explaining backstory and oh I don't remember I wasn't really listening. I was wishing there had been something for me to do rather than click to speak with the guy. In review: Game play was good, HOG scenes challenging, unique fun puzzles. I gave it 3 stars because the Clockwork Man was not any real part and the ending just happened with no challenging puzzle or HOG scene or participation by the player.
This game was amazing and definitely one-of-a-kind. It is 1891 and you are investigating the disappearance of your parental units with the help of Sprocket - your adorable clockwork companion. He has some very interesting features including an Object Locator, Progressive Hint(which gives you a nudge instead of the solution) and an Object Database showing you an image of the object that you need to locate. The objects were all true to the time period and historically accurate. The map gives instant clickable locations so no traveling between scenes. It also gives icons for HOS,Puzzles and Interactions to Perform. The scenes are beautiful and have amazing depth...I'm not even sure how to say that correctly. Some of the objects are BAM in your face and others are flat against a distant wall. The scenes that I encountered were either scrollable or zoomable which was also something that I've never seen before. The artwork is beautiful. I usually don't enjoy non-moving cartoonish graphics were these were an exception. The voice-overs are wonderful and Sprocket's noises were adorable. I bought this ahead of other games on my wish list. I liked it that much. :)
It was a very interesting story and the graphics were extremely unique but fairly "old school", and I loved them. The music was great and not repetitive. The HOS were very well done. I did not get the first game as many said it was too short. I did not find this one to be so. It seemed a good length, the hint button was fairly good, and I only needed the walkthrough once for the moon puzzle, although the puzzles at the end were very difficult for me, the hint button finally solved the ones I could not. I did not think the game ended abruptly, but the story was completed fine. I guess the person who thought he ended up with a squirrel still in his inventory did not pay attention to the last scene. A different sort of game and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I just bought the game recently and loved it very much. The challenges and tasks on some occasions really got you thinking. The visuals were excellent and the music good. Only problems, the game was a bit short. Could have gone on a bit longer and made it a challenge to get the family back home. Hope there a second one on its way
I just finished playing this game. It had so much to offer, not your average hidden object game by far. I loved the panning idea, up and down or back and forth. Great stuff. The story line as great and the graphics WONDERFUL. I even loved the music. This is truly a treasure for those who loved the genre. An awesome one to buy.
